    HUGE SPIKE IN CASES AFTER REVISED INFECTION-COUNTING METHOD

    There has been an almost 15,000 spike in coronavirus cases after China revised the way it counts those struck down by the killer flu.

    There are currently 63,687 confirmed cases in mainland China.

    The global death toll stands at 1,489.

    CHINA ‘REGRETS’ AUSTRALIA’S TRAVEL BAN

    Australia has banned people travelling from mainland China from entering the country until February 22, reportedly causing “renewed friction” between the two trading partners.

    The Chinese Embassy in Canberra issued a statement in which they said they express “deep regret and dissatisfaction”.

    The statement continues: “Only Australia and a small number of countries have taken such extreme measures which are overreaction indeed”.

    China also stressed the country had rigorously followed protocol as set out by the World Health Organisation.

    FEARS FOR TWO ‘MISSING’ JOURNALISTS IN WUHAN

    The BBC reports two citizen journalists who posted videos, pictures and dramatic stories from inside the coronavirus ground zero have “disappeared”.

    Fang Bin and Chen Qiushi reportedly haven’t been heard from since earlier this month.

    According to reports, Chen Qiushi’s social media channels have been deleted while Fang Bin’s have “gone quiet”.

    It’s said the pair were determined to reveal the “truth”.

    RALPH LAUREN SALES COULD BE HIT HARD BY CORONAVIRUS

    Designer retailer, Ralph Lauren has closed around two-thirds of its Chinese stores as coronavirus sweeps the country.

    The fashion giant added it will cause a larger impact to its business than previously predicted.

    Due to a “significantly reduced travel and retail traffic” its fourth-quarter sales could be hit by $55 million to $70 millio deficit.

    AIRBNB SUSPENDS BOOKINGS IN CHINESE REGIONS

    Airbnb has suspended bookings in Beijing, Wuhan, Yongchuan and Wuxi for several months.

    They said all customers will be refunded – adding they are following local government guidance.

    Bookings at ground-zero, Wuhan are suspended until March 31.
